    Terribly sad, whatever the terminology.

I agree. They did a pretty cool concert a couple of years ago. Sad he felt he couldn't go on. Sad for those around him, too.

'Hang' is an ergative verb (it can be used transitively and intransitively (with out without an object)). Don't confuse hang/hanged/hanged with hang/hung/hung. Also, it commonly means 'to hang until one is dead' so, yes, he was found hanging but he was also found hanged. 'Found hanging' might imply that he was hanging but not yet dead.

    cow76,

Good point. I guess it is a matter of perception.

An ergative verb? Thanks cow76. Something to impress the students with. A lot of musicians dying lately. Always sad when there's no other way.

Yes but he was found hanged usually implies he was hanged by another party. Hanged himself would remove the ambiguity. How about "KK found dead after hanging himself" Sad he had to go out alone.

Could we perhaps leave this poor man in peace?

  • spudman at 11:17 PM JST - 17th October

intradodgy I don't think the poor man is reading JT. Can't you read he was found hanged.

he is dead. he has no perception of this thread even if there is some type of afterlife. you cannot shatter his so called peace.

This is very sad news. Last year, he put out the Vitamin-Q Album with my friend, Anza. I think the news probably came as a shock to her.

My condolences to his friends and family. May he rest in peace.

I'm saddened to hear this. SM Band were my second introduction into the Japanese music scene after Joe Yamanaka and what a great band SMB was too. Very unique and they were immensely talented. RIP and thank you for the pleasure.

That's really tragic. People who commit suicide... I really wish someone could talk to them before they make such a permanent decision that affects more people than they may even know. Rest in peace, sir. My condolences to the family.

“Sad he had to go out alone.”

In the end we all go out alone, there really isn’t any alternate way of going.

I do however find it sad when any creative persons takes their own life, as black as any period might be for them there is always the possibility of coming through to work and create again.

I feel sorry for the hotel and the people who found him hanging. That must be a nightmarish experience.
