Looks like you're the only one here pontificating on pacifism.
NuckinFutz at 05:33 PM JST - 5th July
Time for the USA to test fire one of our ballistic missiles. The poster boy for condom use (Kim Jong Il) in charge of North Korea needs to know just how far ahead the technology of those he vows to "destroy in flames" is. May I suggest his summer house with private lake and jet skis as a target?

jhk: "Koizumi (Pacifist approach) went to North Korea and negotiated the return of Japanese to Japan. "
You need to get your facts straight jhk.
The Japanese government flat out ignored the families of kidnapped victims, completely denying that NK was taking Japanese citizens, despite evidence and eyewitness accounts to the contrary. It wasn't until Kim Jong Il flat out bragged about it that Japan even acknowledged that it happened.
Only some kidnap victims were returned, and only after Japan agreed to pay NK millions in so-called "humanitarian aid."
Ha, negotiated my oshiri.

There is no reason for Aso to fly to Pyongyang, because any negotiation must to be made on the six party talks. If you read the old news news you can see that China, SK and J, tried several times to get NK back to negotiations.
Separated negotiation are not very likely because the agressive behavior of Kim Jong-il, threaten all the region.
Japanese pacifism means tha twe are not going to start any war, for any reason. But if NK try to kill our citizens we are going to defend them. For some reason you sems to think that pacifism means free oil and food, but sorry, we dont worked hard for give free drinks and cars to the Elite of the NK regime.
About the G8, I dont see anyone begging for anything that cant be asked with out offer sexual favors like you imply. But if think so make you feel better, you can do it at your heart content. It dont change the reality that Kim Jong-il is the man responsible of the suffering and death of many north koreans, threatening neighboors and selling weapons to other represive regimes.

My point as the only true Pacifist here, is that there is evidence that North Korea has conceded in direct negotiations. Pacifism is written in the constitution, but is twisting its way towards US "freedom" fighting for the right to make a buck off the backs of slaves. The irony is that most here are the slaves, and don't even realize it.
Fear of being killed is the poison that starts wars. It is cowardly to spend 60BN on war toys, and gang up on one country, because of one guy, who I would still argue, has more loyalty and support by his people than you have of your own leaders.
What I am saying for Japan is very simple, get caught up in the US agenda, you will go down with the US.
wareo2, nuckinfutz, have serious problems, while edowave, the guy who always keeps his facts straight, can't see wider than his oshiri, if his head isn't caught up in it already.
Bring me facts on Carter guys.

I really doubt that your suport to an agressive militaristic state that tested 11 missiles in two days can be called pacifism. Your logic paterns and sense of moral very are diferent from the common people.
Midnightpromise at 11:54 AM JST - 6th July
Only Carter could solve this mess, much like he has done for the middle east.........geeeesh, is that the wind I hear whistling through jhk's ears?
bushlover at 04:32 PM JST - 6th July
Even jhk can babble on like NK can exist with their idiots in power and potential to cause havoc in the world. Only difference is that jhk is harmless.
jhk at 04:58 PM JST - 6th July
Carter successfully negotiated for the dismantling of nuclear arms with Kim Jong embraced for North Korea in 1994. This was the Pacifist approach, and is the Pacifist approach in today's case, and will always be the Pacifist approach. Its called talking man-to-man, and not labelling.
However, soon after Bush declared them as part of the Axis of Evil which brought things back to square one. This is the Bush approach, not the Pacifist approach.

After the first subterranean nuclear detonation, Bush agreed to do the most important thing for the North Korea regime. The very reason why NK claimed to be developing nukes. Asurance that the USA dont attack North Korea. Kim rejected the offer and the negotiations dont advanced until USA agreed on the Banco Delta Asia issue. These started the theory that Kim is not making nukes for the security of the north koreans, he do it only for secure the survival of the regime, even if that means use the nukes against the north koreans that he is supoused to protect. If that is true, then Kim is not planing to give up the nukes and any negotiation is just a maneuver for buying time. So the only thing that can convince Kim to give up the nukes is a threat of a militar intervention on NK like Clinton was plaining or cut NK's source of dirty money by uncover the net of companies and banks Kim use abroad. Carter did a good job only because Clinton was deadly serius about invading NK, if you want the USA send Carter again, then just ask to Obama to send a lot of soldiers to South Korea and prepare for war.
Klein2 at 07:10 PM JST - 7th July
Hmm. The pacifist approach. The aggressive approach. Seems to me as though nothing works with Kim. We will all wait until the tantrum is finished and then wait til Kim is ready to listen. Then we do nothing. He will just break his word anyway. I say let him have his regime. I think Obama is taking the correct approach. Things aren't getting any better in North Korea last I heard, so if Kim wants to rush things, why not let him stew? Winter is coming up fast. I think I can hear some rumbling tummies. There IS a point at which hungry people will charge a loaded gun, isn't there? How much aid is he really expecting to get? And in exchange for what credible promise?
This is the way the endgame should play out with a country with bad leadership, no reliable policy, no prospects, and no resources. Plainly, South Korea should be preparing for refugees, not an invasion.
Nekoneko at 10:31 PM JST - 7th July
Things might not be what they seem... Korea is maybe smarter than what people think and the launch of missiles might only be a way to distract who is watching... while people is watching the lauch...they might be doing something else elsewhere...
This is what is done in magic shows... when people figures it out... the trick has already been completed and "Rien ne vas plus"!
I think there is something more behind it... is not about the missiles...
Gaijinocchio at 11:10 PM JST - 7th July
Nekoneko: Maybe 100 years ago I'd be inclined to believe you; however, magic shows are not normally under satellite surveillance and tracked 24/7. The only magic trick NK can do is making their own people and credibility disappear, but what they need to learn is how to pull some food out of a hat, if you catch my drift.
But maybe they're doing something mysterious, like you said, in the cover of darkness since the only lights on are those in Pyongyang. (Remember that picture of NK and SK from space?)
Nekoneko at 07:03 PM JST - 8th July
Gaijinocchio... think about this:
What i Meant is that In a magic show there are magicians and assistants.
While the magician draws the attention, assistants can move around and be unnoticed.
here some questions:
1) Why do NK tells you when and where they plan to launch?
2) Before US Satellites were pointed at NK, where were they pointed at? (which now do not monitor anymore?)
3) Isnt' true, that "The enemy of my enemy is my friend?"...is NK alone in this?...or is a team play with another country?
...you know when they say "you need a bigger picture" ?
here something bigger is cooking...but what?
I think there is another player in the shadow ... while the whole world believes they are alone...
Foxie at 02:51 PM JST - 11th July
Why isn't Greenpeace opposing this? I bet a lot of damage is done to the eco system of our already fragile oceans.
