I have to be very sceptical about this - it has been rushed to market and I fear what the side effects might be.
You're certainly not the only one.
Throngs of otherwise intelligent people have been caught up in a mass hysteria, perpetuated by herb-peddling charlatans, conspiracy theorists, homeopaths, and celebrities with no medical qualifications. There's been a never-ending orgy of ignorance and manufactured controversy for months now.
This is a very bad thing. Vaccines are important and the anti-scientific disinformation that's being strewn about the airwaves and Internet (often under the guise of "simply asking questions") is hurting our vaccination rates (and not just for influenza) and this affects everyone.
There's nothing mysterious or dangerous about the H1N1 vaccine. You're safer getting vaccinated than not.
To be skeptical about this is to rely on the science and disregard the noise coming from the swindlers and quacks.
Not really fair that the infirm and bedridden get it 1st. While I support the aged, get it the future generation 1st. It's already too late for one little girl in Morioka.
Seriously, I don't see how being skeptical about the vaccine is a bad thing, so long as you're not skeptical because of the media. It's a fact, though, that the vaccine was rushed, and that the first people administered are technically the trial.

Of course the vaccine was rushed. Were we supposed to wait for further mutations and then distribute an ineffective vaccine?
The implication that the "rush" to deploy the vaccine carries unknown risks is an intellectually dishonest talking point of the anti-vaccination crowd (not to say that you are personally being dishonest by repeating it).
We're not talking about some new medical technology. Apart from the influenza strain being targeted, the H1N1 vaccine isn't any different than seasonal vaccines.
We already know the risks; you are safer getting vaccinated than not.

Give it to the needy and infants, first.
