Some people just do not get it.

I say warn innocent people to leave the area and bomb the bastards to their 72 year old virgins. I'm a INFIDEL since I don't believe in their religion and it makes us targets. I would never kill a person because they weren't Buddhist. I would however kill these idiots because their status is below that of a PIG. I say one at a time or in groups, just destroy any evidence that they even existed....

No need to travel there. Donning a beard to boot. One's feelings about the plight of this man will not have many feeling as sympathetic only because this is not the first time. Yes, journalists from Japan just do not get it. Shame on the people behind him who sent him there in the first place if in fact that is the case.

Well, hope he's satisfied. Second time he's been kidnapped and held, after not learning the first. Now the nation is at risk as a result; they either have to save him, or do nothing except condemn the people who took him. They look bad and weak either way, and all because of the man's ego.

once I can understand, getting caught twice that's like what GW said 'Catch me once, shame on ... shame on you. Catch me... You can't get catched again!'"

Leave him be.

Any political intervention by Japan will not go well.

This guy had his chance and had it had been me, I would be grateful and safely working in some combini somewhere .

I obviously feel for the guy and hope he gets freed asap.

Then upon returning to Japan an uber bollocking! Seriously what was he thinking!?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Hey, the guy believes in telling the world what is really going on in Syria. Do you trust your government to tell you exactly what is going on? Maybe the problem is that he is having to ask for help. Get it?

@Rebel68

Your comment is ironic. You look at them in exactly the same way they look at you.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Rebel, would you kill someone invading your country regardless of their religion, skin color e.t.c. I think the problem is a bunch of foreigners invading their land first and foremost.

Since preserving the safety of Japanese citizens is our most important duty, we are making use of a broad net of information and doing everything we can to respond,”

No, no, no, no,no...idiots knowingly going into war zones should not expect the government to do a damn thing for them if they get captured like this guy did.

Oh and to Suga here, you can't protect Japanese in here, many times from themselves, so please quit with the BS.

I would never kill a person because they weren't Buddhist. I would however kill these idiots because their status is below that of a PIG.

Do you even realize how hypocritical you are sounding here? If you are Buddhist all life is precious, even a pigs. So you are a sometime Buddhist when it fits your needs, otherwise you like a pork chop now and then huh?

"Some people just do not get it."

Do not get what?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

The Japanese government better make a deal fast... .Paid the ransom, put this guy on the first plane back to Japan and then execute him.... The clock is ticking and i think this is definitely his last chance...

The fact that Japanese tourists and journalists keep getting themselves into these problems suggests something is lacking in Japanese news media or education. I do get the feeling many Japanese have a Disneyesque view of the world and having grown up in such a safe country they cannot fathom the danger that exists in other countries, of course it's not everyone, there are plenty of Japanese who do get it, but in Japan it seems to be a problem that affects even well educated people who should know better. When westerners get caught they seem more likely to have known the risks they were taken it come from religious backgrounds that also make them blind to the risks they face.

@interuni321 No, this guy is experienced and was well-aware of what he was getting into. Do you have any statistical evidence or is it just an assertion based on your feelings?

What, again?

@interuni321 No, this guy is experienced and was well-aware of what he was getting into. Do you have any statistical evidence or is it just an assertion based on your feelings?

Statistical evidence of the % of Japanese people who believe the rest of the world is like Disneyland?! Oh come on! Does this need to be quoted too: "I do get the FEELING..." Yes - it's an assertion based on his feeling.

My prediction is that a lot of you commenting here that the guy is a fool for entering Syria will be the first ones to blame the government for not saving him if he gets executed. That goes for people criticizing the government for blocking journalists' passports from entering Syria.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

You knew the risk. Now deal with the consequences of your own actions.

Dammit, Smith is right again. There's something wrong with this guy. If you're stupid enough to go back there, then all bets are off and you're on your own. But there's a little voice telling me he may be faking all this.

Isn't it about time for Japan to employ it's " Paycheck for Nothing" anti-terrorist squad ? I'm dying to see their capability, given the so much hype and demonstrations-for-the-cameras publicity. Here's the real thing then.

Nusra Front is threatening Japan, saying they will send him to ISIS in hostage exchange unless the deadline is ignored. Why is it that Nusra Front basically will not kill their hostage?

It make me in trouble that my 14-years-old, who will never show any interest on social problems, will get interested in whenever someone has got captured by Islamic extremist and exposed in danger of death with him made in orange!!!
