Japan needs MORE supervision and checks on its nuclear plants, not less. With incompetence like Genden's, who needs terrorists?

This isn't about safety, it's about METI doling out money to their friends just before some bigwigs retire to cushy jobs with power companies.

Giving subsidies to reduce safety checks? Don't understand that! Give money to be less watchful and safe? What is with the GoJ?

checks will be extended to a maximum 24 months from the current 13 months, allowing electric power firms to run their unsafe nuclear power plants continuously for a longer duration of time

More time for contaminents leak into the environment, and its a longer time before they are discovered having an effect on the local population... Oh goody, this means that payments in lieu of personal damages will be astronomical.

I know Japanese ignore problems in the hope they'll go away, but uranium takes a hell-of-a-long time to go away!

With problems like this become more and more common in Japan, it's a wonder that people stay.

You have GOT to be kidding.

Well isn't this the ultimate for the culture of cutting corners? This is potential for a disaster... Man sometimes I think if America didn't do it they would have done it themselves with that uranium they were going to get from Hitler.

Excellent. Because it's not like there've been any safety problems at j-nuke plants.
