I guess Tianjin had a lot of unused leftover masks from the SARS epidemic.

I saw a photo of one woman in Kobe wearing a mask decorated with a butterfly.

PHEW! Thanks Northern China! That was a close one!

why even gaijin in japan have so many bad stereotype about china?
MeanRingo at 01:37 PM JST - 23rd May
I believe the Europeans used a similar method with blankets (and small pox) to endear themselves with the local inhabitants of North America. From where I'm sitting it looks like the deal worked out.

Leftover's from the SARS fiasco.

Why all the China bashing? goodDonkey, that was so funny I almost pissed myself, you should have left out the rational part ; ) I will be in Kobe on monday, hoping to see all the advertisements for the dear leader. I hope I can find one. I am going to ask my Kobe buds to snag one for me. Actually I was there the last two mondays as well and have yet to get the pig flu. Is it possible that the pandemic was overhyped?

Actually what IS with all the China bashing. They can't win. A Chinese city (one i happen to live in at the moment) performs a nice gesture for a Japanese(!) city, and they still managed to get bashed for it. Wonderful.

is very nice I think, good for those
OssanAmerica at 07:23 AM JST - 24th May
It's a very nice gesture from the Chinese. But perhaps putting the Chinese flag on each mask wasn't really necessary.
Monoflow at 04:33 PM JST - 24th May
Tianjin supports Kobe would be enough on it... Wherever people live, most of them will not wear such masks with a foreign flag on it. Or can you imagine, Americans will wear one with a Russian flag, or French one with an Union Jack, or Chinese with a Japanese Flag? So, it's (probably) a nice offer, but obviously they didn't think about...

Do you think you're big and clever now or something with that stupid remark?
thedeath at 06:26 AM JST - 25th May
donation with out any agenda behind is a good think, but
that turned to be just another crappy communist's propaganda. i doubt who would ware it! will a chinese in china ware a mask with J flag on? the communist know it, but they do it anyway. it is not a humanitarian or friendship purpose, it is just the stupid communist show-off.
Terrikus at 12:03 PM JST - 25th May
A national flag now denotes "communist propoganda"?
dennis0bauer at 03:27 PM JST - 25th May
maybe they are second hand masks?
