    Some how I don't buy it - this is after all the country that still makes women wear uniform in a lot of companies even though they will never see a client.

    I wonder if they make the teleworkers wear uniform?

    In a country where performance is widely understood as the obligation to be in the office from 9:00 till late, teleworking can barely fit.

    This is supported by my experience in different Japanese and foreign companies since now nearly 10 years. Management always expresses huge acceptance problems with teleworking as the employee is not visible anymore and control is lost.

    There is underlying doubt that the worker is really working ...

    Yeah, I have a better time believing most of the info is coming from Foreign companies than actual Japanese companies. IT companies have always more flexible and open to new ideas because of the nature of the business. If it happening then I would guess this sector is in the forefront in Japan. Other industries, I doubt because like someone said before they have control issues.
