Great for them, and I applaud this resolution. It has nothing to do with "less radiation was released than a day out in the sun" or other excuses. The amount of radiation released was and is irrelevant. Fact is, a high profile and multi million dollar high performance nuclear sub, with a history of "incidents" related to its performance/structure, is going to get negative publicity if it releases radioactive fluid (which was only discovered by chance during an inspection).
They are not protesting all nuclear vessels, only that this one or other vessels are absolutely safe before visiting port. Any nation or its people would do the same.
****My, it took them long enough. I guess the Okinawan prefectural assembly operates on island time. Doesn't change the fact that they are wasting their time and energy.
The assembly asks the U.S. military to refrain from sending the Houston to the facility until it is confirmed safe.
As if the Navy would send the Houston back out before it's been repaired and the leak fixed. Talk about a meaningless and empty gesture...
