Happy to see them exercising their freedom of expression. Is the rally "anti-US" as the headline states? Not quite, could have been worded better. Though it won`t happen, I suggest offering them all rides in the ancient CH-46s helicopters and then in an Osprey. Of course, then they would have opinions based on facts, not emotion.

I wonder how many Okinawan bar and restaurant owners, taxi drivers and owners of property rented to the US military were there?

Are these people sure they won't need the U.S. and their Ospreys to keep the Senkaku islands near China?

In the event the Americans are pushed out of Okinawa, someone high up in the military should make mention in their farewell speech about that area being ancient territory of China :p

By the way who pays your salary ?

Not you so what does it matter?

@Haruto

no we do not need you and we do not want you.

Who is the "we" that you're referring to? The US-Japan Mutual Security Alliance is supported by the Prime Minister and his Government, as well as The LDP and DPJ, and every government of Japan for the past 50 years. It is widely supported in opinion polls, and the fundamentals of the agreement have not been a major issue in any recent election.

So who is the "we" who don't want the US-Japan Alliance?

The Fear Factor! Fear is a great selling tool in all kinds of business. US have cleverly hoodwinked the Japanese public that her military presence in Japan is necessary. It is true when China and Russia were staunch Communist and the fear was valid at that time. Now there is no danger of Communism invading Democratic Japan, so why is US still in Japan?

There is NO REASON for China to invade Japan. No natural resources, hard to beat militarily, so US presence is definitely not needed.

I say the real devil is US having overstayed her presence. China and Japan doing very well business together and this makes it even more unlikely for China to attack Japan.

China attack Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands? HOW SILLY! Never going to happen! It is totally not worth it! US concoct this fear with Japan/US joint exercise to fan public support. I hope the Japanese public see through the lies of US strategies in Asia.

So for reasons mentioned here, I hope Japanese understand US presence is doing much more harm than good to Japan. Yankee Go Home!

These people are correct. There is no reason for the GIANT military footprint the USA military has in Japan. Military personnel who can control themselves is acceptable. Dependents and military personnel who are not respectful need to leave. Japan needs the right to deport undisciplined military personnel.
