I hope this brings at least a small amount of peace, and even an ounce of happiness, to the Yokotas to be able to meet the child of their own child. I have no doubt it is crushing to hear from their grandchild that Megumi is indeed dead, and if the wish to continue to believe otherwise then all the power to them, but as I said I hope meeting their own flesh and blood could comfort them a little, and that they know even if Megumi might never be found alive, that in this little girl Megumi still exists.
And, while I doubt it will do much towards mending ties, ultimately, I hope it does help to an extent.

"North Korea" commits human rights abuses beyond our imagination every day and can never ever be trusted. This horrible story is just another example: Who will ever know what really happened to the poor girl? Just thinking about it makes me shiver. Who will ever know the daughter's true history? It is absolutely naive to believe anything could ever be changed in terms of relations as long as the criminal and decadent Kim clan rules over the territory. No nation should try to "move forward" with "NK" -- you cannot move forward with a psychopath serial killer and rapist. You can only incarcerate him for good and hope he's quiet. Sadly though, this is not possible yet.
"NK" will not exist for long anymore. The real crisis and international shock will follow afterwards.

The fact that north korea had the vile audacity to dare give the parents fake ashes of their daughter is one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard....

So long as it's only ONE of the most disgusting things, then fine, despite the fact that NK tried to fob it off by saying a land slide had contaminated the remains and they were all mixed up, etc. But there are FAR worse and more disgusting things being done and said both here and there, with politicians here DEMANDING the issue with abduction -- a mere few people -- be resolved, while atrocities committed against sex-slaves and in China 'never happened' and with even posters on here saying, "Move on already!" Would they dare say that to the Yokotas?
Here's an example of something FAR more disgusting:

I hope one day you will be one of the " few people " who are abducted, just to feel how it is , or that someone dearest get in that situation, and also, where is moderator to delete your comment, those " few people" are probably still alive,, imagine how would feel relatives of those " few people " to read your comment how you degrade their need for info on their ones ? So, for you, numbers count , so, as long Koreans abduct " few people " its ok, dont do nothing, as long they dont do it in bigger numbers . Everyone life's has to be important as thousand ones , specially if that person is alive and still held . Justice for abducted .

Let's put aside for the moment the criminal abduction of Megumi and realise for a moment that whatever the truth, both sides have been playing the parents and the public as dupes in an ongoing geopolitical PR battle.
Lest we for get that the bone fragments handed over by North Korea were handled in the most slipshod manner possible as to defy belief. To quote:
And a rebuttal by Nature magazine after complaints by the Japanese Government:

One more note not mentioned in Wikipedia about the DNA mishandling. Shortly after his interview with Nature, Tomio Yoshii was immediately hired by the National Police Agency, which disallowed him from giving any further public interviews.

The dictator had his own uncle killed recently. If Megumi Yokota knew any secrets, I doubt that he would hesitate for a moment to have her killed.
My heart goes out to her family and all the other families of the abducted. What they have gone through for the past 30-plus years is beyond tragic.

The North Korean regime can never be trusted, and constantly lie to everyone. The ruling family kills their own family members on a regular basis, along with the current leaders former girl friend for calling his wife what she is.

Was DNA testing done to prove that the woman from N.K. was really their daughter's child?
Why even go to a meeting if this was not done first?

Mrs. Yokota said she didn't ask her grand-daughter where Megumi was, as she wanted to have a "peaceful, warm meeting with her."

Funny post I LMAO because of your quote at the top especially the end of the quote "former girl friend for calling his wife what she is". I guess the little man has you scared shaking in your boots too because you didn't say what his wife really is as his ex-girlfriend did. Just adding some satire here!!!

Knowing whether or not Megumi is actually alive or dead will remain a mystery as long as North Korea remains a hostile Communist "Kim" Regime backed by Communist China.
There are just too many Walls and Barriers both politically, economically, and militarily that will prevent Mrs. Yokota from ever seeing her now 50 Year Old Daughter.
The bureaucrats in Washington say they've "addressed" the issue with Communist China about the North Korean abductions, but what fruit if any, have those meetings harvested? Nothing. Why?
Because, we got a U.S. Foreign Policy Team that 1. Lays down No Ultimatums to Communist & Dictator Regime Leaders & 2. Cow Tows to Communist Powers that owns their debt.
So, where does that leave the Japanese Government and The Yokota's? - Helpless.
And who knows what state of mind the now 50 Year Old Megumi Yokota would be in IF her mother actually had the chance to see her face to face after spending almost 4 Decades with "The Kim Regime".
I applaud The Yokota's for trying to do what our so called "Powerful Government" has failed to do for so many years and coming up with the same pathetic excuses every time the Korean Abduction Issue comes around.
And if people were to ask me, what would I do to get North Korea to own up to the truth?
Simple, I'd impose No Fly Zones over North Korea.
I'd arm the skies with flying droned and I'd rattle the Commies Cages everywhere throwing that "Status Quo" into a Tail Spin!
That's right! I'd put a Gun to the head of "The Status Quo" because THAT is the only thing holding Japan and The Yokota's and the international community from ever getting ANY issue resolved with Communist China & The Kim Regime.
