Those poor soldiers. If they only knew that FDR sold them out to justify America's entrance into the war.

"“Let us remember that this is where it all began..." there cannot be a truer statement ... It signaled Japan's choice and determination to enter the war on the side of Nazi Germany... Strange though, that there's no reference in this article to a statement from the Japanese government as to the fact that that choice to side with fascist designs of the Nazis is what led to unforetold suffering for its people... Should we then say, that Japan has never found reason to question that choice??? And continues to play the card of the victim???

Lets remember the nuke bombing of Japan too. Where more people were killed and mostly civilians.
None the less. I hope the families that lost loved ones can smile because they are in a better place waiting for them.

The US said it did not know Japanese fleets approaching to Hawaii but the CIA/Intelligence service did know it and did not warn Hawaii. Poor soldiers indeed.

Yeah and remember that all carriers sailed for "practice"

The CIA was not formed until 1947.

The US was technically at war with Japan before this event since the US Government had provided technical, financial and human resource to ROC. The Flying Tigers Squadron which fought directly with the IJA is a fine example.

Hey! Here's a crazy idea!
How about, on memorial days (y'know, days where we honor those passed), we actually SHUT our pieholes about conspiracy theories, and about denials of attacks, or, knowledge, or holocausts, and about how we know who's really responsible for the killings, and just respectfully remember those people who, under extreme conditions, against overwhelming odds, still fought for their lives and their beliefs.

There's no justification for Japan attacking US. US's industries were 10 times bigger than the Japan's industries at the time. Attacking US was suicide for Japan.

My Cousin was captain of the USS Arizona and remains at his post. Many on both sides served with honour and gave the ultimate sacrifice. Let us remember and thank them all, on both sides, for their sacrifice. It serves no good to blame anyone at this point, we should learn from history so that we dont repeat it.
Japan has achieved miracles not just in the past 60 some years but for hundreds of years, succeeding as a vibrant and remarkable nation and culture with a small land mass and limited resources...great creativity, great determination, and great depth of character on the part of the nation and on the part of all Japanese makes Japan a highly respected nation among all in the world today.

Those who don't learn from history are bound to repeat it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. War is war, people die, all sides suffer, good guys and bad guys. All the Oliver Stone conspiracies, Japanese propaganda and everything in between need to just sit back and reflect. In the end, we are all humans and both sides fought for their countries and families.

Much as one side may be the victor, no one truly wins in war. RIP to the dead on both sides.

I agree, let us pray for all on both .... and may we have peace in the years to come.

Read this again, "Let us remember that this is where it all began..." Acknowledging the facts of history is how true healing and a new relationship begins. About the facts...the reason why Germany today is fully integrated with the west and even having army brigades under joint command with France and other European allies is because they fully acknowledge the evil designs of Hitler and have made it a crime for Germans to even question the historical facts of Hitler's Nazi Germany, the one Japan sided with to form the fascist Axis. If Japanese aren't any where close to such a relationship with its neighbors, it is because Japan has never seen anything wrong with making that choice, on the contrary, denies all atrocities committed by its army, rapes, massacres, you name them, claiming not to have given the orders, as if the the imperial army was out there for tourism on the invite of the countries. Who gets fooled when Japan tries to rub the atomic bombing on the face of the world to cover its being responsible for bringing the war home to its people because of fascist designs.

Stop the hatred. Stop demanding other cultures do things your way. Stop condemning an entire civilization because you decided that every last man, woman, and child is guilty of the things you hate. That is not how to put a stop to war. All that does is continue the hate.
When has Japan used the atomic bombing as a guilt card?
