Investigators felt it from outside but never actually looked inside-

They never checked the body to see if it had a pulse?????

Maybe they thought it was a vampire and if they opened the sleeping bag it would jump out and bite them????

i object to the use of the word "investigators"

How long did it take them? Please tell me JT.

I can just imagine it... J-cop1: We have a female. Probably a foreigner. Let's leave her and see what happens.

J-cop2: No... I recognize her. She looks exactly like this girl I once... Oh, wait a second. No, I've never seen her model, er face, before. Yer right. Let's leave her and let the sarge investigate. Come'on let's get outta here.

Perhaps the cops will need to line up and take a pee test too.

MeanRingo - Apparently, it took them the time to take the "body" back to the station for a post-mortem. Hilarious post!

Maybe this has happened in other countries, but I really hope not.

Actually DXXJP I think someone got bored of his dutch wife and decided to get rid of her hahahahaha.

One man's shame is another man's amusement.

Thanks J-peelice for the early morning chuckle.

Incompetent bungling police officers. Is this what we are getting for our money's worth these days? They saw a bag and decided to bring it for autopsy without checking the contents? Is it April 1 already? I just wonder if they will pass another lighter to a homicidal maniac next time...lol (I forgot they just did)

To be honest, sometimes there's not a lot of difference.

Maybe they didn't want to open the bag as it would contaminate the evidence. Crime labs get rather upset when people temper with evidence and/or crime-scenes.

Just guessing.

I can't wait to see if they solve this one with a confession. "Yes, I killed my wife because she wouldn't talk to me!"

Do life size dolls weigh as much as a person of the same size? If not, it is certainly unbelievable that they didn't notice a difference.

I can't imagine why they wouldn't open the bag if they thought there was a person/body inside. ...

I suspect they stumbled upon an abandoned Orient Industry, Candy Girl-Petit Jewel series doll. These dolls should be treated with kindness and not abused.

I am glad the report did not say, police did an autopsy and after rigorous DNA testing, found out that the body was made of polysynthetic material. Police are still puzzled and looking for a clue

this news should be in the entertainment section people

Normally at the scene of a body, the forensics experts photograph all the surrounding area. Once they have all that they need, then the lead detective gives them the ok to move the body to at least do a preliminary inspection. I would imagine that in this case it would be to open the bag. You would not want to be carrying a bomb or some other device into your crime lab.

I wonder how many police it took to bring the "dummy" in? Will the supervising police officer get promoted or fired?

Not wanting to contaminate a crime scene is one thing, but how about making sure the "body" actually was a body and not a person who was still alive?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How many police did it take to bring the "dummy" in ? Sounds like a good joke... someone want to provide the punchline?

Mainichi stopped their WaiWai column because it reflected badly on Japan to the rest of the world. Is everyone aware that this story has hit all the news websites around the world. (Well, at least Yahoo and CNN)?

Alphaape,

Forensics experts? They have them in Japan, home of the confession?

Police fooled as 'body' turns out to be life-sized doll

Later several of the Police officers were allowed to leave with the doll for a few minutes of "private time," alone with the doll.

I heard that they only found out it was a doll because it didn't confess after being beaten for 3 weeks

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm sure they only found out after thoroughly investigating and probing the orifices that it was a dummy. "Hey this feels just like my wife." "But you are not married." "I mean my ... imaginary wife...the dummy."

Altria,

To be honest, sometimes there's not a lot of difference.

Hell Son, you just made ice tea come out of my nose ("Son" reference in homage of Jerry Reed's death. RIP Snowman)!

That one's going to be tough to top.

Based on the look of her face, initial reports believe she died of shock.

(my best effort....Son).

Maybe the owner realized it wouldn't fit in a 燃えないゴミ bag

I wonder if they checked the doll for bodily fluids?

I was just about to ask if they did a rape kit. cwhite beat me to it.

Is this really a true story?
