Police officer commits suicide with pistol in station toilet

It seems like it happens every year....

There was a similar case at the Denenchofu police station last October in which a 29-year-old police officer, also attached to the community affairs department, shot himself to death in the same restroom.

So what's going on at this cop shop that makes it's officer's feel the need to commit suicide? Something isnt right here.

Don't work there would be my advice. Something is definitely wrong.

Did this older officer feel somewhat responsible, for the death of guy last year?

If it is anything like the J-Cops investigating that old people's home it will take THREE "suicides" before they suspect that THERE IS A SERIAL KILLER on the loose...

Denenchofu is quite a swish little suburb, where a few bigwigs spend their golden years. I know Ishihara has a place there for example.

It's odd that such a quiet, well-to-do place has such a high incidence of this kind of thing. I wonder what could be causing it?

The Officer morale must be very low @Denenchofu Station. Throw an outside agency in to review their senior leadership. Its not something in the water.

Sounds more than mere coincidence. Hope they'll look for the hidden cause of the unusual incidents. RIP.

Is there any relation between older police officer and younger police officer? We don't know any connection but they should not use the rest room anymore.

On the other hand, what is the reason for suicide? We must help each other. Communication is important.

Can any of you imagine standing in the cold and rain and seeing all the sleek cars and people coming and going in those magnificent homes while the cops after duty go back to their dingy apartments? Dedenchofu would not be a good choice to guard if you are poor and 80% of us are poor when compared with the money crowd in Dedenchofu.

Does the MPD have psychiatrists? If yes, where the heck are they? If no, wtf?

I know that mental illness carries some stigma here but I thought that in high-stress jobs there would be a little lenience.

Some other article said the two officers were acquainted but not in same line of command (as far as I could tell with Google Translate).

That's a very good question. I don't know as I have never worked there but something is wrong. I have read too many articles about officer suicides on JT over the years.

Search for stresses,whatever these stresses are.In the case of the 53years old officer,it cant be but too much stresses.Usually such old age supposed to be experienced in life difficulties unlike young,so if it happens with old people,then sure something serious wrong.Its pity and sad such news.We can imagine how his family feels or suffers,more over we never wish to see anyone committing a suicide,first because we dont want to loose people in such a way,and because this is a strong alarm,there is some thing wrong going on,especially when it is repeated in short time at same place.

I wonder if the new mandatory workplace stress testing will apply to the police. A lot of them seem rather highly strung... like the guy outside the Imperial Palace who was shouting at me this morning for cycling in a straight line through a green (no, blue) light.

Usually the cause of suicide is clinical depression. Comments here that life as a police officer in Denenchofu must be demoralising aren't really helpful. People who are well-adjusted don't go and shoot themselves in the head just because they see other people who are happier or wealthier than they are. It's childish to suggest that, and to speculate on any links between the two cases, as well.

Why do they need guns in the first place? Some macho/samurai nonsense?? The UK police don't routinely arm…so why here?
