    @Weedkilla

    Also, the Telegraph is comparing 1979 ice coverage to 2007 - there is no 1997 picture.

    Now, if anyone wants to compare the difference between actual Arctic ice coverage in September 1979 and September 2007 you can check it out at http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/ (There's a link at the bottom of the page).

    Now the images returned have a different orientation than the Telegraph images - but they are pretty similar, if not identical - lots of ice loss off Eastern Siberia, Western North America.

    Looks like even the Telegraph has nothing to answer for...

    If you bothered to look at the actual WWF Report you'd see that there's no pictures comparing Arctic ice coverage therein

    Yes, you're right, there are no pictures with the WWF report. But the report does say; "The latest science shows that the Arctic Ocean is losing sea ice up to 30 years ahead of IPCC predictions. It is now predicted that the summer sea ice could completely disappear between 2013 and 2040 – something that hasn’t occurred in more than a million years."

    It's interesting they would say such a thing when Arctic ice cover has now returned to a situation which is within normal limits for this time of year while the amount of summer ice this year was much more than in 2007.

    Also, while the WWF issues these extreme warnings they also offer luxury package tours which do nothing for the environment and emissions of CO2. If they really believed man was causing the earth to warm then I don't think they would be so confident about offering luxury world-wide tours in a private jet.

    For a price tag that starts at $64,950 per person, travelers will meet at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Fla. on April 6, 2009 and then fly to “remote corners” of the world on a “specially outfitted jet that carries just 88 passengers in business-class comfort.”

    You're right about their being no 1997 picture. The Telegraph has taken the 2007 photo and used it for the 1997 pic. (after doctoring it, of course.) To say it's exaggerated image is an exaggeration. It's a straight out lie.

    Look at the top of the page of the Telegraph article. Photo one is of 1979 - there are no references on the page to 1997 at all

    Your basic assumption is incorrect.

    Apologies, you're quite right. Still, whether it's a 10 year difference or a 28 year difference the result is the same - ie: people are being misled. That was my point

    frontandcentre: I'm no fan of Bush but any attempt to fix the global warming problem that strangles America's economy while letting China off the hook as a "developing nation" shouldn't be accepted by America. On that one Bush got it right. I stand by my attack on Prince Charles I see no redeeming value. If he were doing humanitarian work instead of touting the global warming agenda I would respect him a whole lot more. Don't buy into the panic, global warming is not going to result in an overnight catastrophe as Gore and company like to promote. Yes global warming needs to be addressed but people need to eat first.

    And America's wealth should continue to be transferred to Oil producing Countries.

    Good Jorb: Not what I said at all. I believe in energy independence inlcuding clean coal and drilling at home. I believe we whould also be spending a lot more on alternative energy to reduce our dependence on the Middle East. My point still remains that the immediate need of feeding your family and keeping a roof over your head trunps global warming.

    Sorry, you're completely wrong about the Ice Age thing. The journalists were pushing that, the experts knew better.

    Starviking...thanks for the link, it was very good - OgieDoggie

    feeding your family and keeping a roof over your head

    All related to price of oil (Farmers use petro-chemicals for fertilizer, transporting, and such. Houses are powered/heated by(gas and/or gas powerplants sometimes). Reducing the use of petro-chemicals, should make it cheaper to feed your family and keep roof over your head, as well it keeps the wealth in the US and it helps a neighbor feed his family and keep a roof over his head. I'm fence-sitting on the whole global warming idea but I most certianly believe in peak oil.

  • omarbabilon at 01:52 PM JST - 1st November

    Of course he said so because he doesnt work and is not worried about gain money, it is very easy if you have that condition to say "hey, money is not a big problem".

  • Starviking at 03:40 PM JST - 1st November

    @omarbabilon

    Excuse me - he does work. He has official appointments, opening ceremonies, official visits, and charity work to do. He is constantly being shuffled across the UK, Commonwealth and the world doing work on behalf of the government.

    As a possible future head of state of the UK and other Commonwealth countries he has to worry about the future of those countries - and the state of the environment has a great deal to do with the future.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Sure, "HE WORKS", it seems he and Paris Hilton work for the same company, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....

    And about "possible future head os state of the UK". I'm so sorry to break your dreams, but the Her Majesty, The Queen, still looks very healthy and without any intention to retire, so I'm not sure if he will be King, do you think so dear??....

  • Starviking at 09:06 PM JST - 7th November

    On your first point omarbbabilon: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    As for your second comment - everyone dies sometime, and the human race exists because sons and daughters usually outlive their parents. So, yes - I do think Charles will be King someday."
