If they don't have lawsuits filed against the FIFTY-THREE nuke power plants here on the earthquake-prone archipeligo then they qualify as hypocrites.

A nuclear accident is much more likely to occur in one of their own power stations; rife with maintenance issues, falsification of test results, doctored safety videos, and bucket chemistry (literally).

They could learn a lot from how the USN manage their "kettles."

One thing bothers me is that the Article 9 of the Constitution allows Japan to arm to the extent it is necessary to defend itself and the Supreme Court has ruled that some weapons reach beyond the ambit of necessity and are illegal such as aircraft carriers. However our US friends seems to confer Japan with the aid of a wide range of weapons that we cannot arm ourselves. Not limited to super-carriers but marines, cruise missiles and even C-130 flights to war-zones that Japan does not involve itself in. Perhaps I am paranoid and I ought to thank the Americans for giving us the means to effectively defend ourselves which our own laws have unjustly denied.

This would actually be funny if it wasn't so completely idiotic and hypocritical.

I agree Ultradude and wanderlust. Hypocritical when their own have done much worse and probably will continue to do so. Japan is the land of cutting corners. See it everyday in many aspects of society.

    NeoJamal

No, I was refering to the idiocy and the the hypocrisy of these 'residents of Tokyo and five neighboring prefectures' (not even local residents of Yokosuka!) who take the time and energy to file a suit like this. It shows their complete ignorance of the US Navy's nuclear propulsion program and its perfect safety record in comparison to the laughable (and inexcusable) safety record of civilian Japanese nuclear power plants.

What is there to say about this, that others haven't already said. The whole thing is just too stupid for words.
