The Saga International Balloon Fiesta got under way on Thursday morning. The five-day festival features 116 balloons from 15 countries, according to organizers.
Colorful hot-air balloons will; be seen each day above the Kase River in Saga, with flights scheduled for 6:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. and again from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. The balloons will be illuminated on Sunday and Monday nights in the “La Montgolfier Nocturne” event.
The event is Asia's biggest balloon festival. Event organizers said they are expecting up to 900,000 spectators over the next five days.
