Good thing it was muroran and not takomanai. If it had been takomanai, the ripple effect would have taken down all of hokkaido

That article will make everyone else who was, all day, complaning about the bad weather, shut up for a blessed minute.

That's not bad, particularly compared to NJ/NY aftermath.

Well, most places here use a large chunk of electricity for heat, while in the northeast it's almost all gas or oil. As soon as the gas pumps were up those places have heat, but for all-denka houses here, it's not good.

Nowhere near muroran there, so no problems as related to this one.

Yes, made a bit of a typo. Been meaning to take a bus to cool (well, at least cold) places from the Makomanai station and somehow split the difference into an odd name.

True. Still, many NE boilers and furnaces use electricity to function, so when over a million households lost power for an extended time, they couldn't produce heat regardless. (And it took a long while to get the gas pumps sufficiently up as well.)

Oh no - latest snow in 120 years and now a massive storm - it's global warming - RUN FOR YOUR LIVES

Hope there were no injuries and everyone survives the cold with limited power

Actually another site said 3 injuries - one was a police officer trapped under a tin roof (prolly trying to get photos up skirts in the blowing wind lol)
