The president of talent agency Yellow Cab was found dead in his office on Friday, after having apparently hanged himself.
However, a statement from Yellow Cab's public relations manager said that Takanori Obinata, 58, had died of a heart attack in his office, Sankei Shimbun reported on Sunday.
Actresses and former glamor models Eriko Sato, 30, and Eiko Koike, 31, are both attached to the agency, but both women have so far declined to issue any statement to the media.
Koike is to appear in a new drama called "Summer Rescue" on TBS from July 8, for which she is scheduled to attend a press conference on July 2.

Japanese talent is a cause of distress. R.I.P.

Ebuda even if this person was who you descibe as a stingy old hag in your evaluation of character, a person has died, a life is lost. Where is your compassion?

I am with Christina.
A life is lost, family and friends are suffering, etc. Being a Buddhist I hold ALL life sacred in the end it is a being still making the journey towards enlightenment.

"Heart attack" is the sugar-coated generic word often used when someone suicides here....
nath
I said what I said, nothing to read into except what is written.
"Western Buddhists" covers a wide range of buddhist religions/groups and a large range of people from famous actors, athletes, musicians to blue-collar workers.
nath
That is not the point.
Since Elbuda is also a self-admitted Buddhist and even posted his groups name here a few times.
I was raised christian(Lutherian-Protestant) and was taught to show the same respect to the dead as other religions do and thus agreed with Christiana.

He was found hanging from his tie in the toliet, now the story has changed to a heart attack. Thus the headline and contradictory story. We will never know WHY?. He did what he did, the fact that he managed "Talents" is the reason it's news. It's not a debate about religion, if you find solace in a belief, good for you! The story has nothing to do with this.

@Elbuda
might have more sympathy if you said foreigner rather than gaijin, it may not piss you off or been used in a way to piss you off but it has me.
Pukey2
This sounds like damage control.
smithinjapan
So the company thought the claim of a heart attack would fly? I hope this attempt at 'damage control', as pukey puts it, damages them all the more. All the same, it's a shame the man felt the need to 'heart attack' himself. RIP.

To commit murder to one's self does not make sense to me...When life is so over whelming that you say to your self "Death is the only way". Then you need help! Not a noose....but if he really had a heart attack, well then it's in the lord's hand's. But if he died by his own hand, Then may lord have mercy on his eternal soul... Rest in Peace....
JohhnyGlitterball
Someone has died, could people have respect for others and keep their religous beliefs to themselves.
sensei258
Can you just hear the logic train at the agency? "Well, his heart did stop. So we could tell everyone he had a heart attack, they'll believe us, and our business wont suffer. Now cut him down, remove the noose, pay off the witnesses, and we should be good".

Well said JohhnyGlitterball. Good to hear some common sense and decency amid all the other cynical snipes people are making based on pure conjecture.
If it is suicide, I really feel sorry for the guy. I lost a good friend many years ago to suicide. While I never understood why he did it, I have come to accept it. And it was his choice.
What I think is a shame is that many people in Japan don't feel there is anywhere they can turn to for help when they suffer from depression. It's like they feel cornered or trapped.
I'll say it once again, Japan needs to move into the 21st Century a bit more and remove the stigma attached to 'mental health issues' and start offering more help to the (obviously) large number of people out there who suffer from things like depression. Depression is the disease of the 21st century and a big threat to our general well-being and happiness. We need to be more open about it if we want to deal with it properly. Just my 2 cents.

there's like, no information at all in that post about what actually happened ... only about what might have
