Yeah... no kidding the woman died instantly... probably exactly what she had wanted. So much for today's perfect Shinkansen record. That's two straight days of delays.
Actually this is the Tokaido Shinkansen operated by JR Central, so its today's delay of an otherwise ontime record.
The delay's reported the other day were JR East Shinkansen services which despite being a JR Company and sharing "Shinkansen" name, is a totally different network managed by different people.
Death by shinkansen? why not Heroin or some euphoric private exit. Why screw up so many people including the driver who must suffer the scars forever? Its a backlash against society at its utmost selfish.
yeah, kind of weird article. First it says a woman wandered onto the tracks, as if she was lost of something.. and then later it says, jumped in front of a train..

Absolutely. The anti-social nature of such a final act makes me lose empathy for the human being who felt s/he had no other choice but do end his/her life. Not only the driver will be scarred forever, but also anyone who happened to catch even a glimpse of the incident or who has to clean up after it may spend years trying to get it out of their heads, at the expense of their health and possibly even their relationships.
If some people are hating it and want to do themselves, go for it. There are plenty of ways to go about it without screwing things up for others. I almost missed my flight home once because some jerk jumped in front of the Narita Express train. Even though the train engineers aren't at fault, the poor guys probably can't sleep for a month after someone jumps in front of their train.
I feel for the train drive who has to live with this for the rest of his life. There was nothing he could do but still.... Is JR going to put fences or make it more difficult to get in the rail tracks in the future thus jack up the prices of train fees?
It is so sad that people do this. About the train driver hope he/she did not see much. There is a case in the America where a young man crossing the tracks jumped from between 2 freight cars to be hit by the Amtrak train. They train crew did not know until it stopped in Richmond and were notified by the police.
This just reads of a tragic story, sighs

That's an awfully big bug to hit the windshield, no wonder it took 90 minutes to clean up the mess!
How exactly do you "wander" onto a shinkansen track? I would think getting onto the rails would take some effort.

Isn't there some scenic cliff around for people to jump off of?

An hour ago wasn't she a man? I guess it's hard to tell a person's sex when they get whacked by a shinkansen.
Yes, there's one in Fukui prefecture that people use. Your body ends up in the ocean.

On the 7pm NHK TV broadcast they announced succinctly that there was a delay caused by an accident. Hmm, not quite..

Does someone wanting to kill themselves "wander" onto railway tracks?

A Brazilian woman?..oh no! Must be due to unemployment..? It's common for the Japanese to commit suicide, but a Brazilian? it's really strange.
