tokio was third in olympic voting, so going downhill! i find it hard to believe that Paris ranks higher than Shanghai / BJ, etc list is likely still too developed market centric

Am I the only one to find this inconsistent - surely you can just take one measure for accessibility to an international airport and that is best done in time to access.
Be interesting to see the full list and criteria

distance versus time... Kanto still has good train systems so even though Narita is far away it may be easier to access than a place with a near by airport but crap transport?

David,
Agreed. The 52 minutes it takes to go from Tokyo Station to Narita via N'EX is a lot more tolerable than going from the Loop in Chicago to O'Hare in 50 minutes via the CTA Blue Line.

"New York held first place"
Yet the headline is "Tokyo 4th in city functions in global city rankings."

I find Tokyo very easy to live and move around in. Public transport is excellent. But one negative for Tokyo is the positioning of ward offices. They all seem to located as far as possible from train stations, as does the Immigration Bureau in Shinagawa. Is this some kind of secret aid scheme for the taxi industry?

What this ranking fails to address is what an ugly, unexciting, featureless, bland, concrete wasteland Tokyo is to live in.
