Why was he in the cage?

Tosa's are bred to kill. Only mindless thugs who enjoy dog-fighting keep them. There are three kept in my neighborhood (in pens, not cages)that actually do get walked...each night beside a k-truck as they are too dangerous to exercise when humans are out and about. Surprise, surprise their owner is ex-yakuza, but at least he seems to care for them properly.

As for killing the moron who never walked you and kept you in a cage, good doggy!

Wonder why it was in a cage in the first place.

The problem being of course that the kind of person who wants a big fierce dog in the first place because it's a big fierce dog, tends to be exactly the kind of owner who is going to abuse the dog and rejoice in its resulting nastiness. This has something to do with it. There is also the problem of some people who buy big dogs not being able to control them. What I mean is, buying a big dog is not going to cover up for your own inadequancies. The reason I have a big dog is that I grew up with a household of retrievers (and one retired police rottweiler). Anyway, in addition to getting the mandatory golden retriever when we decided to get a dog, we (my wife and I, and the kids) thought we might also get a slightly more challenging charge - an English mastiff). I must say, however, that there is not much difference to owning a mastiff vis-a-vis retrievers. The only variances I can think of are size related. The training principles, however, are not that different. Finally, on the subject of guard/fighting dogs, only an idiot would reinforce the dog's natural aggression through negative stimulus such as beatings or cruelty. These dogs, whatever they are, have more than enough naturally-inherited aggression.
Anyway, due to the reasons that I mentioned above regarding Tosa bloodlines being dominated by old style fighting dogs, I would strongly discourage anybody from owning one.

    "bites to his whole body"

That dog must have really hated Naganuma.

Mizumaki is a part of town best avoided as well. Here you find the slummiest of slums in all of Kitakyushu, if not Japan. Lots of cars driving around without plates. Nothing but trouble. Hard to feel sorry for this dogowner.

He mustn't have treated the dog well. Too bad for him.

I am not so sad for this news. Sorry but I hate dogs and dog keepers.

    Timor,

"There is also the problem of some people who buy big dogs not being able to control them."

Exactly. Just near me recently a kiddy had to ring for police assistance because he'd been mauled and had been forced to lock himself in the bathroom to escape his own pet Rotty.

If you 'aint big enough to be boss, and you don't hve a clue that dogs are people too, then you shouldn't own one.

    Permits are they way forward.

I'm wondering what happens to the dog now. Will it be put down or presented as a gift to the replacing municipal official?

  • KitsuneYoukai at 01:53 AM JST - 24th June

The dog will probably be put down and it should. Who's going to want that dog now?

  • dennis0bauer at 01:14 PM JST - 24th June

If the dog truly show remorse it will only get a reprimand :p

If the dog truly show remorse it will only get a reprimand

"Wan wan-wan grr wan bow-wow grre wan."

Translation: I was inebriated at the time, m'Lud, and thus cannot be held responsible for my actions, reprehensible though they were.

    Nessie - Good one.

    http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/tosa.htm

This has a lot of info on Tosa dogs. Me thinks the owner did not treat the dog well.

Sad the owner died but he should of done his homework.
