A small but good step depending on life expectancy of patients over 75 years old and business survival of a large shopping mall.
More wasted taxes more like. Until the Japanese state stops pampering these rural enclaves, the rural enclaves will continue to sit on their hands doing nothing and making themselves unwelcome to new blood, Japanese and others, and new cash.
Just like other industrial nations had to make the painful transition from a rural society to an industrial society, Japan must do likewise, or the grandchildren of the grandchildren to come will be paying for today's foolish economic policies.
Unfortunately the DJP today, under Ozawa, have taken over the LDP's mantle of bribing the rural voter.
It's one small step back from the selfish, global, unregulated, anti-social society that has developed over the last twenty years. Hats off to the city of Hinode. Let's hope other cities, towns follow their example.
most towns dont have the yen to do this so aint an option for many & in any case it works out to about Y47,000/person so anything serious wud eat this up in no time flat, wud maybe cover 4days in a bed, actually less probably, so this is just going to be a bandaid on a gusher
I tend to agree but these elders have also made the world we are living in & the dire straights Jpn is in these same people kept putting the LDP in power & look at the result, disaster everywhere

It's a very contraversive piece of news,as far as Aso's speech is considered. http://mayomo.com/#/id=30002/
