The warning has been cancelled, I believe.

No question about it; the end of the world is coming. hahaaaaaaaaaaaa

Is it just me or is anyone else a tad worried about this. Everyday? There is a quake of large magnitude around these (add almost any word u like) isles. Think I'll be stocking up on a bit more water and tinned goodies. Making sure the little buggerlugss have their teacosies ready at daycare/school to protect them from falling buildings. But seriously a bit concerned. Maybe it's gaia saying "politians clean up your act"

What the hell's going on lately? 7.2 in the Indian Ocean, 6.6 and 6.9 in the Kanto area, 7 near Indonesia yesterday, and now this....yada~! Reminds me of the series of quakes before the Hanshin quake...they seemed to go right around Japan and then bam!

It's certainly an active period... good time to watch an end of the world with the kids.

sorry... should have been an end of the world movie above.

Pretty scary! I hope this doesn't go on.

Another earthquake, 6.4, about an hour ago...aftershock I guess.

Glad you find it funny. You may just be right.

What is the point of a tsunami warning when people who own boats in the area don't get the word??? Or even people in general don't get the word unless they are watching TV??? Japan's tsunami warning system sucks hard!!!

Himajin,
I hadn't realized that there was a set of lead-up quakes to the Hanshin quake (wasn't here then). Now I'm even more worried than I already was!
Felt the one this morning pretty strongly, living in Tochigi as I do. It was just a single strong jolt, though; no shaking.

Yeah, Himajin, you're scaring us here! I had no idea that there were any "preludes" to the horrible Kobe quake.
And I'm giong down to the Yaeyama islands in two weeks!
Fortunately, on Taketomi, everyone lives right in the middle of the island, and there's little danger of any flooding. Come to think of it, that's probably why everyone settled there. Back in 1771, the terrible Meiwa Tsunami killed hundreds of people and destroyed hundreds of homes.

Just relax and watch the red circles... are they getting closer? http://www.iris.edu/seismon/
Yeah, there has been a lot of action recently, especially around the islands southwest of Japan, the Suruga are, and the Hokkaido area. It doesn't necessarily mean anything...things might settle down, but then again, do you have your water jug filled up, your emergency rations, and your camping gear ready?
