Two killed in head-on collision in Fukuoka Pref

FUKUOKA —

Two people were killed on Wednesday afternoon when the car they were traveling in crashed into a truck in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. According to police, the car was driving through the Yakiyama bypass when it crossed over the center line, smashing head-on into an oncoming truck.

The car’s driver, Minako Shimizu, 39, and passenger, Yuko Oozato, 30, were killed, while the driver of the truck, 28, sustained minor injuries. The accident occurred at a place where the road straightens out from a sharp curve, and police believe the car mistakenly crossed over into the other lane.
