'Unfair' Fukushima compensation rules revised
TOKYO —
The government committee charged with drawing up compensation guidelines for Fukushima residents who were forced to live in shelters following the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant disaster has announced that it is considering changes to the way compensation payments are currently calculated.
At a meeting in Tokyo this week, sources say the committee decided that treating equally those who lived in emergency shelters for a short period of time and those who were ultimately unable to return home was “unfair.”
The committee concluded that emotional damage caused by an inability to return home should be taken into consideration, TBS reported.
Sources say that some committee members offered up other potential revisions, such as the suggestion that those who were forced to live in shelters for a period of longer than five years receive extra compensation, but the session concluded before any action was taken on those ideas, TBS reported.
The committee is expected to draw up its guidelines for compensation before the end of next month.

None of them should be allowed to return home anyway. But guess what! Our tax money will go to those that return to the areas that were destroyed by the Tsunami. Yes, rebuild only to be washed away again. That's the waste.

the post is about Fukushima nuclear refugee's and not others like the survivors of the tsunami and earthquake. On the point of tsunami's, I think it could be safe to state that almost all of the country's coastline would be a risk for tsunami's?

Disillusioned
TEPCO owes just about everybody in Japan compensation, not just the displaced residents. There are countless thousands of ancillary businesses that were directly effected by the meltdown and possibly millions who lost earnings during the power outages after the meltdown. However, the only compensation coming to the rest of the country is increased taxes and electricity charges. Unfair? Pfffft!

Of course, survivors should be compensated no matter what and fairly instead of conributing billions to the IMF to bail out Europe economic crisis.
