Universal Studios Japan in Osaka on Wednesday marked the first anniversary of the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
The attraction, which has proved a big hit, is the first Harry Potter themed area outside the United States.
USJ said in the first year, about 13.5 million people had visited the attraction.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter takes guests into the world of the famous boy wizard, recreating the Hogwarts Express train and Hogwarts Castle. Moving portraits and the Sorting Hat chat to visitors as they wander the halls of the School of Witchcraft.
"Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey," which uses 4K imaging technology, takes visitors on a flight above Hogwarts with Harry, while a rollercoaster -- Flight of the Hippogriff -- offers an exciting ride.
Shops, restaurants and all sorts of magical street entertainment round out the attractions.
As part of its future plans, USJ is planning to open a theme park in Okinawa in fiscal 2020.
