Universal Studios Japan welcomes 100 millionth guest

Universal Studios Japan, which is located in Osaka, on Monday welcomed the 100 millionth visitor to the theme park since it opened in March 2001.

Yumiko Yamashita, 41, visiting from Tokyo with her husband and daughter, was feted by park officials, Snoopy and Sesame Street characters.

USJ’s attractions are based on famous movies and fairytales, including “Jaws,” “Jurassic Park,” Spider-Man,” “Back to the Future,” “Peter Pan,” “Shrek,” Snoopy” and many more.

The park uses an access control system equipped with facial recognition technology that makes entrance into the park for annual pass holders a quick and simple experience.
