Interestingly enough, some of the USS Nimitz sailors spent the day painting the Japanese battleship, Mikasa, which is next to the base. ADM. Nimitz was key in making sure this ship was preserved after the war because he admired Adm. Heihachiro Togo, the "victor of the battle of Tsushima".
