The importance of this survey further goes to show that the image Japan wants projected to the outside world is not reality. If the outside world knew what Japan was "really" like, these numbers would be much lower.
"If the outside world knew what Japan was "really" like, these numbers would be much lower."
Just exactly what then is the "Real" degree of dependability, or
the "real" image of Japan in the United States.
I tend to think only us folks in the U.S. can answer that question.
Fluff it up and stick a cherry in it... but the fact remains,
"Among the general public, 67% said Japan is ‘‘dependable,’’ down from 74% in the previous survey last year"
Wow, down a solid 7% ! Anyone care to opine about the obvious surge downward ? I will ! I think a lot of it has to do with Japan's stance on American beef. The Americans have wised up to the double standards the Japanese exhume. Throw in the deceitful laden and blatantly dishonest actions by Toyota... and viola ! A good slash of the ol "dependability" ranking ! Hmm, seems its not only consumer reports giving the Japanese a "no vote of confidence" label... the general American public is truly disappointed too.
