Appears to have flown over? It's either they confirmed their identity as US or they didn't. A military fixed-wing prop narrows it down to a C-2 Greyhound, E-2 Hawkeye or a P-3 Orion.
"Tens of meters above the runway." Sounds like an aborted landing in the March incident. In the June incident, they don't have a sighting at all, just "similar aircraft noises". Gotta love those aviation audio experts at an airport that closes nightly at sundown!
"Ichigo-san, you hear that? Sounds like a plane approaching. Hmmm... can't tell the model of the aircraft, but it has a distinctive "American" sound to it, don't ya think?"
Ichigo: "'American sound'? The only sound this one is detecting is the sound of his friend over-indulging on osake again."
Would be great if the report could have included, "U.S. officials were unavailable for comment" or "U.S. officials state that they are investigating the incident." Then we could have some comments from the U.S. side of this...
Don't know who it was so they blame the US. Too funny!!!
"A fixed-wing propeller plane which appeared to be a U.S. military aircraft" usually means the plane type and/or markings were identified
as US military.
Japanese articles report that the aircraft in question is suspected to be a C-130. Still not confirmed that it's a US bird although it's highly doubtful that the JASDF or JMSDF would use one of their closed civilian airports for after-hours training...

Although I admit maybe it's technically correct, it just seems so strange to call anything other than bombers and fighters "warplanes".

Didn't know they had prop-driven stealth technology. But boy it worked.

What else can you expect from the self-named world-leader... I assume it was something like let's make some noise in the hood...

You're right, a Herc would fit the bill, but given the location of Yakushima I didn't think that USAF/USMC would be the likely culprit.

Hey, the story is about suspected US aircraft, not Chinese or Russian. Stick to the topic.
