Re-writing history for fun and profit is hardly anything new ... but it's best to wait until all the witnesses have died of old age.

I always wonder if all these groups that issue press releases condemning this and that even read or watch that which they are condemning. How would 99% of WWII vets from the Pacific theater even know what was accurate and what wasn't? It's not like they were actually in Hiroshima, or on the Enola Gay.

It's the obligatory partisan statement by a self-interested group, what else is new.

Well considering this group is pretty much the only group that represents the atomic bombing group I think they know what they are talking about.

Would it be any different from our black van crews who ramble on that the death toll at Nanking is significantly lower, despite the fact that they weren't even there when it happened or have done very little original research of their own? It would seem 'historical revisionism' is not an exclusive province for us Japanese. Many from our nationalist camp protested against various Nanking media just as Neo-Nazis did against 'Schindler's List' but the respoectie films were distributed anyway. The question is now, can the US have the decency to prevail over these Neo-Con revisionists?

The problem NationalistRE is that what those people claim is true and correct. It is fiction, the author of the book can't back up his claims.

The truth of the manner is that this group making the claim represents the surviving members of the crew that dropped the atomic bombs, they know better then anyone else on the subject.

Put in big bold letters that the story is fiction and not based on anything that can be proved or is in history books.

Funny, it is usually the losers who try to rewrite history. Anyway, reading up on this author chap, it seems that he has been playing pretty loose with the truth for quite a while. Obviously Cameron got hooked on this novel and wants to make a movie, the facts be damned. Then again, showing open support for a work of such a questionable nature would seem to undercut Cameron's own reputation.
