NAGOYA —
A male worker died Wednesday after an explosion at a plant of Toyota Industries Corp in Obu, Aichi Prefecture, police said. The explosion took place shortly after 5 a.m., and Koshiro Takagi, 24, who suffered burns to his entire body as well as broken bones in his leg and arm, died at hospital, according to the police.
The factory, about 200 meters northwest of JR Obu Station, manufactures compressor parts for car air conditioners, according to the company. Twelve workers including Takagi, an Obu resident, had been working at the factory since around 9 p.m. Tuesday. The victim was testing the cylindrical form of aluminum pistons by himself.
