Japan News and Discussion
Anyone who has a 1-seg phone with digital TV already knows how utterly crap it is — what’s the point of having broadcasts you can rarely pick up and which drop out every few minutes even when you do get a signal?
Although Sanyo hasn’t explicitly said so, that appears to be why its latest range of car-navigation units offers a choice of models with proper terrestrial digi-TV tuners. That and the ability to take them out of the car into the house.
The new additions to the Gorilla series start at 130,000 yen, with a strong focus on all manner of AV entertainment — presumably because that’s more important when stuck in Tokyo traffic than actually finding out where you’re going.
Still, if you do finally arrive, Sanyo has thoughtfully included info from the police on car crime hotspots, making sure you don’t stop in those locales and just keep on truckin’ instead. (J Mark Lytle/Metropolis)

I enjoy a blue movie as much as the next guy, but don't you think it's a bit dangerous while driving?
I hear it won't even let you unlock your door in any part of Saitama Prefecture.
