Brain food

Brain food

Forget about genki drinks and collagen-enhanced pasta dishes. The latest food obsession to hit Tokyo is a pastry that can make you smarter. In collaboration with the TBS show “Mr Brain,” in which Smap member Takuya Kimura plays a brilliant, crime-solving neurosurgeon, Yamazaki Baking Co has released the Mr Brain Brain Training Bread.

The sickly-sweet snack is filled with enough shio-caramel, chocolate and whipped cream to induce the sugar high of a lifetime. But what really sets this confection apart is the secret ingredient—DHA, aka docosahexaenoic acid, better known as an omega-3 essential fatty acid said to promote brain activity and function.

For just 128 yen at your local convenience store, you too can be as smart as Kimutaku. (Metropolis)

Well if you eat that cr*p, then you are as smart as this tarento. Induce a sugar high? Bring on the diabetes, I say.

He's no ordninary talento, he's a member of one of Japan's most successful and longest running boy bands. And despite the fact that they've been at it 15 years or so, you'll still be hard pressed to find a student who doesn't know Kimutaku.

Kimutaku is so ridiculously hot, smart or not. He's been smart enough to stay out of trouble and not get caught naked in a park...hear that Kusanagi-kun?

I ate one of those, and it wasn't bad. Can't say it helped my brain, but it did give me a sugar high. I've also been busy chewing that gum and exhaling, waiting for Kimu Taku to appear and attract women to me. That hasn't worked out either. People look at me funny too.

    Eat fish.

Fish is the mainstay of the Japanese diet and already contains EPA, which the body naturally changes into DHA. However the body only makes it in low quantities. Those with ADHD or concentration problems are unable to make enough DHA and suppliments are useful. THus a DHA suppliment alone would be better, not the pastry and sugar!

Actually Japanese food is already great for the mind and body. If salt was reduced from the diet, Japanese would live even longer!

Oh, but the waters are running out of fish due to overfishing. Tuna from Italy etc. Sorry, wouldn't want to talk about something serious or do anything about it...

seesaw - I checked several conbinis and none of them have it. The Lawson dude told me they had it, but due to it being "oishikunai" they've stopped sellin it. Oh, well.
