Casio brings slo-mo to the masses

When Casio launched its super-fast F1 digital camera in January, we couldn’t have guessed its 1,200 frames per second video-capture mode would be so popular that the company would have to come up with a cheaper and better version within just nine months.
That’s exactly what the new Exilim EX-FH20 is, although that zippy video has come down a touch to 1,000fps. Still, the price cut from around 100,000 yen to just 70,000 yen makes it easy to accept losing a little detail on those slo-mo shots of dogs shaking off water and balloons bursting from left to right.
If anyone actually plans to use the FH20 for still shots, they’ll probably want to know that the 9-megapixel sensor can handle up to 40 shots per second in burst mode (albeit at 7 megapixels) and that there’s a 20x optical zoom. (J Mark Lytle/Metropolis)

That sounds like a nice entry-level camera.7 megapixels is enough for most everyday folk.

Yeah even on my DSLR which has 14 megs, I often use only half unless I want a crazy amount of details... Damn I wish I could shoot 40 frames per second at any resolution!
