I'm waiting for Sony (or some other company) to develop a "digital user canceling eyeglasses," that spares me the sight of the ubiquitous zombies now seen everywhere, eyes transfixed on their keitai or Nintendo screens while they walk, ride bicycles, board trains, eat, sit on the toilet, etc., by rendering them invisible.

These noise cancelling things don't work very well.

According to Wiki, the first patent was filed by an American in the 1950s. And Bose technology predates Sony. So this is an outright lie.

I also don't like the feeling of pressure that you get with noice-cancelling headphones. A pity, since some of them are quite effective.

The can't be true, I was in Bose a couple of years ago trying out their digital noise canceling headphones. So, Sony couldn't have produced the first DNC headphones.

This is not a very credible source. Sony was first with the wlkman and now the headphones.

Moderator: All articles in our New Products section have always carried price and URL. That's the whole point of New Products.

Outhouse,
Can you substantiate the claim? Wiki is more credible than no source at all.

from Gizmodo website... "Update: Since several companies sell digital noise canceling headphones, I asked Sony what exactly made these a world's first.
They admitted that they weren't sure why there are other headphones advertised as digital noise canceling, since they all use an analog mechanism for equaling out the sound. These do an analog to digital conversion using a digital signal processor with three filters. That should, in theory, result in far better sound since the sound gets cleaned up with digital EQ before you hear it."
so there you have it, if we can believe that then Bose have been lying to us for years
