Disc protection

Disc protection

You’ve just been dumped by your significant other. Depressed, you curl up with a pint of mint chocolate chip ice cream and pop in your favorite old movie. The last thing you need is a scratched DVD. Well, be helpless no more. Voted one of Time magazine’s “Coolest Inventions” in 2004 — and only now arriving in Japan — the D-Skin is a transparent film that will protect your movies, music and video games. Just snap the orange lips around the rim of the disc, and bingo—permanent protection.

The D-Skin never needs to be removed, as its transparency permits CD and DVD players to read, and even burn data, right through the film. (Laura Hibbard/Metropolis)

Is disc death really that much of an issue? I'm a music collector, DVD nut, and a former SysAdmin. I can count the number of "bad" discs I've had on one hand.

Sheesh people. Stop using your discs as frisbees.

    LoL at TPOJ.

I know I would definitely buy these. I hate having to lend my DVDs and music CDs to people only to have them return them with scratches. That makes sense now! I bet my friends are using my CDs are frisbees! curses under breath

Or if you really wanted vengance, you could post that "old movie" on the web - but not with a scratched disk, obviously!
