Eneloop battery with longer life

Eneloop battery with longer life

Sanyo’s AA nickel hydrogen battery can last 5 years without recharging. It can be recharged about 1,800 times, making it both more economically competitive and enhanced in environmental awareness as it means the amount of overall battery waste will be reduced.

After charging completely, it keeps 80% of capacity after 3 years of storage, and 70% after 5 years of storage. It is useful for not only daily life but also in emergencies such as a big earthquake.

It is suitable for temperatures as low as -20°C and is pre-charged with solar energy.

Price: 1,260 yen for two batteries.

For a moment I thought it said it can last 5 yrs of use after 1 charge. It is the storage for 5 yrs, unused, that is.

Huh. This brand of battery is real? It was advertised in an anime recently.

@randomenigma: Very real. I used to use no-name NiMH batteries, thinking there was no difference. Very wrong. I use Eneloops every day and have found they're the best NiMH batteries available. They don't lose their charge, they have more than adequate capacity, and they can dump current into my camera flashes like no other battery I've tried.

@some14some: High temperatures are less of a problem for rechargeable batteries. Eneloops are already sold worldwide.

really? i had used rechargeable batteries (made in china) and ...42C temp turned them from solid form into liquid form :) i mean there was a leakage.

These days, I use Eneloop batteries in just about everything that will take them--electric razor, computer mouse, remote controls, my blood pressure monitor, etc. Reliable, long lasting, and at least somewhat better for the environment than disposables (not to mention easier on the wallet)!!

Great, now can you put it in my iPhone 4S. God knows we need it.

@some14some: maybe the "made in China" bit is the problem. I have no problems with high temps.

@NetNinja: you'll have to talk to Apple about that. ;-)

a nice little advancement in battery tech - but come on... we need higher energy density too
