Green tea ice cream from Häagen-Dazs

Green tea ice cream from Häagen-Dazs

Häagen-Dazs Japan has released a new product featuring green tea and black syrup. “Crispy Sandwich Green Tea & Kuromitsu” is made of crispy wafers and green tea ice cream mixed with black sugar-based syrup.

I've just never been able to bring myself to eat green tea ice cream again. I like green tea and I love ice cream, but putting them together does nothing for me (neither does green tea latte - just as bad as aojiru, despite being a veggie lover). Same with coffee jelly. I like coffee and I like jelly, but coffee jelly? Yuk.

just as bad as aojiru, despite being a veggie lover

I think that's because of being as veggie lover. Same way that being a bean-lover means I can never forgive natto.

Haagen-Dazz make some really wicked ice cream, but I don't think I'll be trying green tea & black syrup. Loyalty only goes so far.

And I still want to know what happened to Walnut Maple, the best ice cream ever to see the light of day but which disappeared from the supermarket freezer shelves after I'd bought it only a couple of times.

Never mind mucking around with green tea, bring back Walnut Maple!!!

Haagen-Daasu is way overrated for its inflated price.

What? New? I've been addicted to these a while ago - at least 2 years ago and possibly more. Sure, they disappeared from the stores for a while, but it's definitely not new - glad to see it back though, I love the stuff.

Do they have Yoghurt taste ice-cream? I definetely prefer an yoghurt taste ice-cream.

Looks appealing. I cannot say it is disgusting if I never tried it. Still Haagen-Daasu might not make the best green-tea ice cream but I am sure other companies would do a better job at it.

Eating green tea ice cream is like eating baby back ribs and shrimp together in the same mouthful. Both are good separately, but together...

I like all kind of ice-creams and my most least favourite is the green tea ice-cream. Even if in the shop there is only green tea ice-cream left, I won't be tempted at all. Maybe Haagen Dazs researched the market and decided Japanese people like green tea icecream. I cannot imagine green tea icecream being popular in other countries except some Asian ones.

    Cookies&Cream - good!

    Vanilla - good!

    Chocolate - good!

    Chocolate-Mint - good!

    Strawberry - good!

Green Tea - Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

What no mention of Malaga(Rum & Raisin) Ice-cream?

Green tea is ok but I prefer european gelato anytime, not the stuff they call Gelato outside Italy(and surrounding countries).

Rum-Raisin - how could I have missed that? - good!

My favourite is "cheese cake icecream" (sold as a stick)

I grew up on Gelato and "Eskimo" ice-cream, name changes across the countries but logo remains. You all know it.

Green tea ice-cream is ok but falls way short of vienneta, etc for me. Give me a king-cone, etc anyday.

even a simple vanilla ice cream is so good in this hot weather...even ice with some fruit juice sprinkled on it...

Love matcha ice cream, good stuff.

Their lemon sorbet is excellent, too bad it's not available in Japan. The green apple version that appeared last month is also excellent, crisp and refreshing.

Anyway, i think green tea icecream should be banned.

Sounds nice. I still like Ben and Jerry's "Willie Nelson's peach cobbler" ice cream, as one of the few sweet treats I enjoy every once in a while. Odd sounding name for ice cream, but actually tastes quite good.

I love matcha, which is why I'm not keen on most green tea flavoured things, but this Haagen Dazs "Crispy Sandwich" used to be a favourite of mine a few years ago. Not convinced by "black syrup" as a translation, however - brown sugar syrup might be better....

personally I love most matcha flavored sweets and drinks, Haagen Dazs' is no exception, although kuromitsu...mmm don't think so.
