Sony is going to release high-resolution audio stereo system MAP-S1 for about ¥65,000 on April 19. New speaker SS-HW1 which is designed to be used with MAP-S1 will be released for about ¥56,000 on the same day.
The audio stereo system MAP-S1 is able to play high-resolution audio including DSD audio (2.8MHz). It is compatible with DLNA and AirPlay, and it has Wi-Fi built-in.
It features the digital amp "S-Master HX" optimized for high-resolution audio and the technology "DSEE HX" to upscale compressed sound source and expand CD sounds up to 192kHz/24bit equivalent for high-resolution quality. It is able to upscale the compressed sound saved in a PC or USB memory, or audio from radio, or sound in a mobile device connected via Bluetooth network. It can play DND, linear PCM (WAC, AIFF), MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC, ALAC, and ATRAC formats.

I don't understand how "high-resolution" applies to sound. It's basically a term applied to video or photography.
