Come November, female owners of Nintendo’s DS handheld (or men who dig cosmetics) will have a chance to recreate that department-store beauty-consultant experience at home when Sega launches an unusual piece of software that dispenses advice on looking good.

The 6,090 yen Project Beauty package includes the program and a camera attachment for the console. As you may have guessed, the latter analyzes the face of anyone gazing into it, while the software works out what color of eye shadow might work best. As Sega has produced the title in tandem with Shiseido, we can only hazard a guess at what kind of cosmetics it’s likely to recommend. (J Mark Lytle/Metropolis)
