Häagen-Dazs is selling two new flavors of ice cream—Strawberry Vanilla and Peach Vanilla—for a limited period until June 14 at its stores and other retail outlets. Cost: 263 yen.

I have a better, cheaper idea: Mix some fresh strawberries or ( now ) canned peaches ( a little later - fresh peaches ) in with some plain or vanilla yogurt - delicious!

@sarge: Great idea. This tiny cups of ice cream are too expensive like everything else in Japan. I give them props for the good flavors they have. I know Japan likes to go out into left field sometime with flavors. When they had came out with kim-chi ice cream one time, I had to see it to belive it.

Where is Ben & Jerry'S. Haagen-Dazs in Japan is crap. 2 bits per cup and 5 times the normal price.

Japan is becoming more advanced every decade about selling ice cream. ahhhh !!! I like buying a pint or a quart of ice cream. Over 100 flavors to choose from. Keep it in the freezer for weeks. Ohhhh it's just a dream. Ohhh I'm waking up from my dream I'm thinking of american grocery stores. Stupid me !!! Maybe 40 years from now they will have that here. For family ice cream night. I have to shell out 2000 yen for ice cream. Great day !!!! Yeahhhh !!!!

I saw a pint of vanilla ice cream the other day. In the 1980's that was common in america. I give it 2050 they will have advanced ice cream for everyone.

Wow...normal flavors. Next will be ramune flavor, curry flavor and natto flavor to get back to normal japan.

While I agree Japan is pretty advanced on the ice cream front, it's thanks to Haagen Daas - an American corporation. Japan also is very advanced in bottled tea. The biggest seller? Coca Cola - again an American corporation. Nothing wrong with that, I just find it ironic. Competition is good for everyone, I just hope these companies actually make quality products for us Americans too. I joke with my wife that Tropicana takes all the good grapes and sends it to Japan, leaving the crappy ones for America.
