Sanyo’s Eneloop range is like the Duracell Bunny it’s cool to like. On the one hand, it’s a scrumptiously sleek vase-shaped light that bathes your hipster pad in a soft white glow — or, when switched to “healing mode,” cerulean blue. The lamp is powered by a pair of rechargeable batteries, offering up to 45 hours of light. And the other bit? When tilted 90 degrees, it transforms into a flashlight — perfect for when the Big One hits. Batteries, dock and AC adaptor included.
Eneloop Lamp, 14,800 yen. Available from major electronics and interior stores.

what a relief, the teasing I used to get for being a duracell bunny fan. kept me awake crying at nights

These are cool but overpriced. I use a rechargeable LED table lamp from Muji for nighttime al fresco dining on my roof that works just as well for half the price (and has an auto-off feature, though it doesn't get near 45 hours of on-time per charge). And it's shaped like a do-not-disturb sign, so can be hung just about anywhere.
On the other hand, Eneloop batteries have replaced single-charge alkaline batteries in almost every device in my home that uses them, from remote controllers to game controllers to electric shavers.
