Casio Computer Co on May 22 will release the EX-FR10, a commemorative model that marks the 20th anniversary of Casio’s first digital camera, the QV-10. The anniversary edition includes a multi-angle monopod and is limited to 2,000 units.
EX-FR10 boasts a modular construction that can be separated easily into two parts—the camera unit and the LCD-equipped controller — making it possible to take varied and interesting shots. EX-FR10GYSET has been treated with a luxurious matte silver coating reminiscent of the QV-10.
Casio’s exclusive digital technologies have generated years of enjoyment for cameras, not just with photography but also as a tool to communicate visually via a liquid crystal screen to display pictures instantly. In March 1995, Casio released QV-10, the world’s first consumer digital camera equipped with a liquid crystal display.
Thanks to the QV-10, digital cameras have become a household name, and other companies soon followed suit with the launch of their own personal digital cameras. In recognition of this achievement, QV-10 was registered as part of the ‘Essential Historical Materials for Science and Technology’ at the National Museum of Nature and Science in 2012.
