100 yen for 125 grams? I buy 1000 grams ( 1 liter ) of 35% mango nectar for 138 yen.

I brought a real mango to give to a girl on a date as a gift. Then I asked her what her dad did and she said he was a mango farmer. Score.

space monkey - You were just lucky.
Fresh mangoes are of course better than any nectar in a box or a jar. They ain't cheap though.

@Sarge: I can get "Atalufo" or "Champagne" Mangoes here in Tokushima for 100 Yen when they are in season. Seems pretty cheap to me.....

kawachi - Could you send me some of those 100 yen Tokushima mangoes to me here in Tokyo? In return I'll see to it that the U.S. military doesn't open a base in your neighborhood, heh heh.

@Sarge: The mangoes aren't grown here, they are imported from The Philippines. And thankfully, I don't think the US Military will open a base here.....you might be confusing Tokushima with Tokunoshima, which is in Kagoshima Prefecture. Tokushima is part of Shikoku.

Some mangoes go for 6000 yen or more for 3 up in Nago! Maybe I'll settle for drinking this puree.

Japanese usually say or hear the word 'Mango' and then they give a cheeky/embarrassed smile :)
Especially if I say something like 'Mango daisuki'..

Talking about mango, my son loves to got to he local Kaldi as they have always free Mango-Ice for tasting.
I usually sample the free "Ice-Blend" Coffee, staff know us well as we do a lot of shopping there.
Will have to go and see if my local shops store that Mango-juice.
