Mist opportunity

Mist opportunity

We humans take 24,000 breaths a day, so it’s a good thing we spend most of our time indoors, right? Wrong. According to the EPA, the air in our homes and offices can be dirtier and smellier than the pollution outdoors. Thank goodness, then, for the Magic Ball from Singapore-based Antibac Laboratories. Not just an air filter, the spherical contraption dispenses Antibac2K, a “water-based antimicrobial and malodor removal formulation with botanical extracts.”

This mist eliminates airborne particles ranging from pollen and dust to cigarette smoke and kerosene fumes. The Magic Ball comes in silver, metallic black or pearl white, is suitable for rooms up to 33 square meters, and costs just 10 yen per day to operate. It’s also fitted with 30 LEDs, allowing it to do double duty as a designer nightlight. (Beau Miller/Metropolis)

So I should buy a machine to breed superbugs in my home? How safe are the chemicals this device uses? Are they potentially worse than what it supposedly "eliminates"? Where do the pollutants magically go when they are "eliminated"? Will I wake up coated in a layer of precipitated chemicals and bugs? I think I'll stick to filtering the air thanks. :)

Think I'll stick to opening the windows.
