Smaller than a laptop, so easier to carry around. But I shan't be buying SONY any time ever - their stuff breaks down within a couple years (I'm talking about audio products mainly). This is way over-priced. I have a region-free 10 or 11-inch, swivel-screen, chargeable player that I got off Amazon for a tenner, and it works a charm
