Stamp for gift-wrapping paper

Stamp for gift-wrapping paper

Shachihata is marketing a stamp specifically for gift-wrapping paper and envelopes for cash gifts. With fewer occasions for writing by hand, the stamp resolves the problem of writing formal words for ceremonial gift giving.

The product “Keicho Onamae Stamp” comes in two versions of black ink appropriate to the occasion – a darker black for auspicious events and a lighter shade of black for condolence gifts. Retail price: 1,575 yen.

Have we become too lazy to write even just a few words/characters? What's next -- pre-recorded messages so we don't have to open our mouths to say Hello, Thank you, or I'm sorry?

Stamps were used hundreds of years ago, ifnot thousands, how is this a new product?
