The big squeeze

The big squeeze

From December, Bandai will sell its Mugen Tokoroten, a toy that simulates the squeezing of “tokoroten” (jelly). By pushing in the stick, tokoroten with imprinted smiley faces comes out through the grid. The product was made in collaboration with Nippon Television’s variety show “Sukkiri!!” and offers a special version with the face of program host Terry Ito among others.

The toy will be sold at variety stores at the retail price of 630 yen. The product offers a new experience to target consumers who have never made tokoroten.

A similar product will likely be appearing at your local 100 yen shop very soon.

So what does one DO with this "mugen tokoroten" toy? Does one play with it, eat it, stick it on something or someone? What's its purpose? All I can say is, "Yuck!" (Although I do hope that it makes its way across the Pacific so maybe I'll find it in one of the Daiso stores near San Francisco by spring.)

Just as with the "endless bubble-wrap popping" and "endless edamame popping" toys, it's all about the sensation... :)

Which, of course, is hard to describe...
