Tomato-flavored sukiyaki sauce

Tomato-flavored sukiyaki sauce

Kagome’s latest sukiyaki sauce has a tomato base. Six ripe tomatoes have been added to the standard sukiyaki base of soy sauce, “mirin” (rice wine condiment) and sugar, resulting in a delicate sweetness and rich taste. It can be used as a soup similar to demi-glace, and it is also tasty if you add some rice as a finish.

315 yen for 400-gram package.

Hmmmmm, I may just have to try out this new flavored sukiyaki sauce. Sounds tempting. Is it a thinner dipping sauce or a bit thicker like a marinade sauce? I wonder, too, if there are immediate plans to market this "tasty" version outside of Japan... (And I like the suggestion of adding rice as a finish --> what a novel concept, especially in Japan! LOL)

Sorry, by adding tomato Kagome has made a new sauce. It is no longer sukiyaki. It may taste good, but it is not sukiyaki.

Thanks to the Japanese, they are always trying to come up with a new recipe to make a quick buck. Tomato flavored sukiyaki sauce doesn`t sound that tasty to me. Maybe they should try garlic or ginger sukiyaki. Even though that does not sound so great, it is probably more tasy than tomato mix.

Yeah, you could add some rice into it afterward and have risotto. Of course that should always be a last risotto.

I just made it for dinner today. It tastes good !! :P ~ but that's right, with the tomato and butabara, it's not sukiyaki anymore XD
